The hair

Like any other non-generic product you buy, hair pieces (including human hair extensions) are only as good as the materials used as well as the method and quality of the production.

A hair piece can either be made from human hair or synthetic hair. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

Human hair usually looks the best and feels like real hair (which it is). However, human hair tends to fade more quickly in color compared to synthetic hair and is less durable.

Synthetic hair technology and quality is constantly improving, Synthetic hair tends to maintain its quality and last longer compared to human hair. Also, synthetic hair is generally more durable and the synthetic hair technology is today able to match your existing hair color, texture and density very precisely.

The most expensive hair pieces are made from high quality human hair. Less expensive hair pieces can be made from medium to low quality human hair, animal hair, or synthetic fibers. Some are made from a mixture of these products. The cheaper hair pieces are often made from Asian hair that has been dyed or bleached.

Human hair is fragile, so even the most expensive and expertly made pieces needs regular maintenance and to be replaced after some time.
