Shampoo for Hair Loss & Hair Wash
Not every bottle of shampoo for hair loss is born equal. And washing your hair may
not be as simple as you thought. We will go through the art of
choosing a shampoo as well as washing your hair to
ensure that you give your hair and scalp the best conditions possible.
UHLO comment: There
are no shampoo's that have proved to stop or even slow down hair loss.
BUT there are shampoo's that can accelerate hair loss. These are
typically shampoo's with strong detergents and chemicals that irritates the scalp. Avoid these.
Shampoo & Conditioner
No shampoo has been proved to regrow hair.
The FDA has not
approved any shampoo for hair loss that claims to regrow hair, and it pursues those
producers that claim their shampoo stimulate hair growth. If a shampoo
would stimulate hair growth it would be considered a drug and under the
FDA's jurisdiction.
However, it is legal for shampoo producers to claim that their shampoo gives your hair a thicker and fuller
look, as this is a cosmetic claim. But this is a very different claim as to stimulate hair growth.

Use a gentle shampoo. Stay away from shampoos
with strong detergents, chemicals and strong fragrances as these
can dry out your scalp, such as salicylic acid and
alcohol.
Shampoo is used to remove grease from the hair and scalp. It is important that the shampoo and conditioner are gentle and
non-irritating to the scalp.
If you are seeing a dermatologist, he or she may recommend you a special
shampoo, but this is for alleviating scalp problems, such as scaling and
inflammation.
Hair Wash
Hair wash is the cosmetic process to keep your hair and scalp clean by washing it. The main objective of hair wash is to keep the hair and scalp clean so that the hair can breathe.
There is no need to wash your hair daily. You only
need to wash your hair when you feel you need to, that is, when your
hair or scalp feels greasy or oily or for other personal hygiene reasons. By washing your
hair too often, you can reduce your hair's strenght. Wash your hair
with a gentle shampoo only as often as you feel you need to.
An often overlooked feature of the hair wash is the
importance of thoroughly rinsing the hair after applying the shampoo
and possible conditioner. The shampoo gets rid of the dirt and
oils from the hair, but it is the rinsing afterwards that carries the
dirt and oils away. By not rinsing thoroughly enough, some of the dirt
and oils will stay in the hair.
