Traction Alopecia
Permanent Hair Loss: No.
Characteristics: Traction Alopecia is caused by extreme
hairstyling or hairstyles that pull the hair too tight. Also
breading of the hair can cause Traction Alopecia if it is done too
tightly. If the cause of the hair loss is stopped before the scalp
gets scarred and there is no permanent damage to the hair roots,
then the hair will usually grow back to its previous state.
Bald patches can occur if you regularly wear certain hairstyles,
such as pigtails, braids or cornrows, or if you use tight rollers.
Hair loss typically occurs between the rows or at the part where
hair is pulled tightly.
Duration: Typically three to six months after stopping
pulling the hair.
Cause & Cure: Traction Alopecia is caused by
hairstyling or hairstyles that pull the hair too tight. By stopping
the hair pulling normally restores the hair growth.
Traction alopecia: Hair loss caused by physical stress and tension on
the hair such as prolonged use of hair weaving, corn rows etc. Done too
